Frequently Asked Questions

  • That will vary depending on the animal and the state you live in. If a pet requires a permit for Florida residents, it will state it on that animals page. If you live outside of Florida, give us a call at (850) 542-4410 and we will do our best to help you. Remember, it is your responsibility to check your local laws if you live in another state. Always know your laws before checking out!

  • Absolutely! We work with a 3rd party company (Credova.com) that offers financing for pets and pet supplies! In most cases, they also offer 90 days same as cash! For instant approval, apply online now! It takes about 60 seconds to apply. Simply click the "Pet Financing" link at the top of the page.

  • To simply say we are licensed would be an understatement! We hold several licenses and permits, but most importantly, we are state licensed and inspected with the Florida Fish & Wildlife, as well as federally licensed and inspected with the USDA.

  • Absolutely not. This is for multiple reasons. Reason #1, most can get sick easily. A common cold, bacterial hepatitis, or even covid can easily be a death sentence to most primates. We're a high traffic store, and I'll never knowingly put them into an unnecessary situation risking their life. Reason #2, we do sell primates, typically Marmosets and Capuchins, however, it is strictly by special order to approved, and child-free homes. If you are interested in adding a primate to your family, watch the vid at www.PanhandleExotics.com/monkeys.htm for information on the process. Step one, research! Primates can make an unbelievably great pet, but are not a good fit for everyone. You must convince us you have taken the time to do basic research on them and can provide for their basic needs, while providing a safe, nurturing home, for the entirety of their life. We are more than happy to help with husbandry and general care to approved adopters, but we will never sell a primate to someone that has not taken the time to research them first.

  • Just because a vet will take your money to see an animal, does not mean they are qualified! If you live outside of the Pensacola area, take the time to call around and speak to multiple vets before purchasing your pet. Never ask "Will you see" instead, ask "do you have experience with." Those are not the same question. Sould your pet get sick and need a doctor's help, you don't want them to merely be a "guinea pig." (No offense to Guinea Pigs lol) If you are local to the area, for most non-emergent or specialty cases, we recommend Animal Hospital of Pensacola and Safe Harbor. For emergent, specialty cases, or primates, we use and highly recommend Dr James Askew who specializes in exotics. He is worth the short drive to Animal Care Hosptial in MS, and can be reached at (228) 918-0402.

  • Although we don't ship larger, heavier supplies such as tanks and enclosures, most small supplies such as foods, treats, toys, etc., have the option for shipping via USPS! If you are unable to pickup your pet, ground transportation is available to most legal US states, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. If you live in another state, step #1 is make sure the animal is legal in your state, and obtain a permit if required. It is your responsibility to ensure the pet is legal in your state before purchasing! Once you have done this, simply add your pet to cart, then choose the appropriate transport option. Transport prices vary by the type of animal, and distance of your location to our store. We personally transport most species throughout Florida! If you live in another state, most animals will be transported by KD's Transport. This is a 3rd party transport company owned by Katie Stroud. She is a USDA licensed transporter who we have worked with for many years. She travels all over the US, and chances are she will have a route to your state! She can be contacted at (765) 588-7534. She is an incredibly sweet and helpful person who is more than happy to speak with you on the phone, however, she asks the 1st time you contact her, do it by text! Simply say hello, this is (your name,) I am purchasing a (type of pet,) from Panhandle Exotics, and it needs transported to (your location.) This way she can look back and refrence what animal you are getting, and where it's going to help simplify the process!

  • This question is very subjective. Some people hate cats and love dogs. Other people hate dogs and love cats. Us personally, we love all of Gods creatures! What we are trying to say is yes, every animal we work with can be an amazing pet, in the right home. This means do your research before purchasing and make sure the pet will be a good fit for you and your family. You may find that the animal you first wanted won't be a great fit for whatever reason, but another might be even better! We are always happy to answer any questions! If you are unsure a specific type of animal will be a good fit for your home, come by and talk to us!
